Reviews of BS in Computer Engineering graduates

About University of the Immaculate Conception:
UIC is under the management of Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) Sisters. One of the main objectives of the school is to develop the student into a well-rounded person. Teachers were hired based on standard qualifications. Thus, quality education is guaranteed. Aside from that, students were motivated to enhance their talents and abilities through series of activities, shows and events. Above all, I just did not realize it right away but being prayerful had been implanted into my whole being.
It is a Catholic institution. But there was no discrimination or exclusiveness in terms of religion. Anyone can enroll regardless of faith and beliefs as long as rules and regulations must be followed.
People usually call the female students as PINK Ladies. The skirt color somehow reflects the virtues of Mother Ignacia Del Espiritu Santo who was the founder of RVM congregation.
The Management ensured that the school has the most advanced facilities to aid the learning of students along the way. There were designated laboratories for all subjects that required testing and further studies. Complete equipment and tools were readily available and will be provided during laboratory experiments. Advanced technologies were installed in Audio/Visual rooms. I said rooms because there was not only one due to the growth of population. The school has big libraries with so many books and other reading materials. Several numbers of tables and chairs were situated in almost every corner and sides of the room to accommodate students. Yet, they still looked spacious and organized. Gymnasium, auditorium, playground, basketball courts, prayer rooms, clinic, school supplies store and many others…. Name them. They are all available inside the school. Most of all, they have the most advanced computer laboratories that meet the demands and requirements encountered upon.

About your education:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering is an IT course that focuses not only on the software part of computer system but also the hardware itself. It introduces the entire computer system; its architecture, operation and components that make it operational and useful.
I love Mathematics and such computer education has started to be in demand during my college years. Well, I never thought it to dominate the world through the years until the current generation.
Actually, it was not my first choice but of my best friend.
Mathematics in Engineering courses are not as easy as 1 2 3. I almost gave up with Differential Calculus and Electromagnetics. But when we started taking up Electronics, Logic Circuit, and Machine Language subjects, my curiosity was awaken. The course was not entirely difficult. It was very challenging.
Yes, it was indeed very interesting! It’s amazing to learn that the basic concept of numbers led to the development of technology nowadays. The simple existence of 1’s and 0’s had been the gateway of man to rule over machines.

What is your current job?
I am currently teaching IT subjects in a Technical School.

Is what you learned at the university useful in your professional career?
Basically yes. All the lessons learned from the said school have been useful in my professional career. Theories learned have been the guide to successfully deliver appropriate result. Proper discipline and training were rightfully in practice anytime and anywhere possible.

How long did it take to find a job after graduation?
Finding a job was easy, honestly. I was immediately accepted as an IT instructor in a reputable school right after graduation. There were also some series of interviews and variety of offers that came along during those times. When I decided to widen my knowledge and improve my technical skills, I resigned from being a teacher and work as System Administrator for several years.

Would you recommend others to study BS in Computer Engineering?
Only few students really did make it through BSCoE course. Aside from the fact that you have to study it for 5 years, the subjects and projects really demanded focus, patience and seriousness. You have to be really intellectually capable to remain sane and succeed.

Mr. Local Lead Perfect!

Mr. Local Lead Perfect!

I can still remember last year when I started to look for jobs online. I was really serious about it and really aiming for my goal to stay at home, be with the kids and at the same time earn money on my own.

It's not a surprise that I experienced being scammed just like any other newbies. But I was not discouraged. So everyday, every night after my teaching job... I rushed to my desk and searched. I did receive some fixed jobs like article writing, blog commenting, answering yahoo questions, local lead mining and other simple jobs. But I was aiming to get one that is on-going and related to my work experiences. It was not that easy. I need to compete with others who are far more experienced than me when it comes to online tasks.

It took time, a real great time! With all the headaches, sleepless nights and body pains, I kept on trying. It was part of my daily routine. Yet when I was almost to surrender, I suddenly received an Odesk notification about an interview for a Virtual Assistant vacancy. My heart was filled with joy and hope.

The schedule for the interview came and I thought I was ready as I can be. He contacted me through Skype. Thanked God, he didn't call but just chatted with me. He was so nice at first that I did relax and was myself. He explained to me my job, it was really in details that all I can say was "OKAY".

The week past and I was trying to balance my schedule, as an Instructor, as a mother, a woman and an online provider. I even forgot that I need to socialize too. My being a part of a community seemed gone. I already didn't know how to fix my schedule. I even forgot my meeting with friends. I had no time for fun. Everything was out of proportion. Oppppsss!! I failed! I failed a lot of times. My online employer's patience became thinner and thinner. Until one time, he informed me in his calm, commanding lines... "If you cannot do your job, you will lose it. Nothing personal. I just have to move on." I was so devastated and frustrated. I don't want to lose that job. It was my ticket to the "online world".

From that time on, he became strict and reprimanded me a lot. He corrected me in every small detail I wrongly done. I started to listen to everything he said and he wanted. Gradually, I learned to have focus. He trained me to be efficient in my work. No rush but shouldn't be delayed. He wanted simplicity in all my output but clear and perfect in his standards. That was 9 months ago. Now... I am still working as his provider doing variety of tasks. I am grateful for the chance he has given me. While working with him, I did receive lots of contracts at higher rate. He knew it and was even very supportive. He taught me a lot from being organized in my work to being almost perfect in every thing I set focus to. I am fortunate amongst all other contractors online to be his employee. It's a great experience. And I am happy!
